History

Tantamani managed to re conquer Egypt and push out the Assyrian invaders that had pushed his predecessor, Taharqa, back to Nubia. However, he wasn't able to hold on tot he victory, and in his reign, the Napatan/Nubian kings finally lost control of the Egyptian crown.

The Dream Stele tells the story of his victorious campaign in the Delta. However, in 633 BCE, Thebes as overrun and by the army of Assurbanipal.

It is interesting to note that although Thebes was ruled by Moneuemhet and Shapenupet II (as God's Wife of Amun"), the rule is still associated with Tanutamani Like many dynasties, Egypt had a number of local powers.
