Pronouns in Irish take several
forms, just like pronouns in any other language.
When used as the object of a verb
| Singular |
Plural |
| mé (me) |
muid (we, us) |
| tú (you) |
sibh (you-all) |
| sé (he, it) |
siad (they) |
| sí (she) |
|
When not used as the object of a verb
| Singular |
Plural |
| é (him, it) |
iad (them) |
| í (she) |
|
The standard forms are not stressed while talking to emphasize them.
Just like other words have a special emphatic ending added to them to
denote stress, the pronouns also gain a special ending.
I am fine Tá mé go maith.
I am fine Tá mise go maith
The emphasized pronouns are not stressed in speech either. The ending
is enough to signify that they are the emphatic forms.
