Dynasty Notes

The 17th Dynasty were a series of local rulers, who controlled Thebes and the surrounding area, but not much else. The last two pharaohs (Tao and Kamose) opened the way for the New Kingdom by defeating the Hyksos kings in the rest of Egypt.

Most of the dynasty, though, did not fight agains tthe Hyksos --isntead, they paid tribute and maintained an uneasy peace with the rulers of the 16th Dynasty.
