When Ptolemy IX died, Cleopatra Berenice ruled for about a year on her own before she was forced to marry Ptolemy XI. He wa much younger, and either her step-son or her natural son.
He had her killed nineteen days after the wedding -- and was subsequently lynched by the angry mob in Alexandria.
