History
Ptolemy XIII was only ten years old when his father died and left him to rule with his sister Cleopatra VII (who was seventeen at the time). The regency was in the hands of several men: Pothejnos, Theodotes of Chios, and Achillas a commander--chief. They did not approve of the young Cleopatra and drover her from Egypt.
The young king is responsible for the death of Pompey in 48 BCE. Pompey was seeking refuse in Egypt after defeat in a battle with Rome. This was not well-taken by the Romans, and Ptolemy XIII went down with a ship attempting to escape from Caeser's army.
