Iuput II ruled in the Delta from Leontopolis. He was an ally of Osorkon IV and Tefnachkt in the 24th Dynasty against another ruler, Piankh in the 25th Dynasty. This ia confusing period, with many kings ruling in different regions of Egypt. From the look of it, just about anyone could (and did!) claim to be pharaoh. SInce people didn't know what happened fifty miles from their own farm, it probably worked to have a "king" in each region -- although there is little ot support the idea that they worked together. |
