§ 488.

áṫas is the commonest word used in Munster; bród is usual in Ulster and Connaught.

§ 489. The word for outside, without, is amuiġ, older form immuiġ pron as if ammuiċ (ă-mweeh'). So astiġ (ăs-teeh'), inside, within.

§ 490. Translate into English

• Ċuaiḋ an ḃean asteaċ ar an doras; ḃí fearg uirri.
• Ní ḟuil sí astiġ anois, atá sí amuiġ arís, atá só ṡíos ag an tobar.
• Atá áṫas mór ar an aṫair, ṫáinig a ṁac a ḃaile indó, agus atá sé astiġ ins an teaċ anois in a ṡuiḋe ag an teine.
• An ḟaca tú súiste astiġ ins an sgioból?

§ 491. Translate into Irish

• Nora is delighted (great joy is on her), she found a bright shilling in her pocket.
• She did nt find a shilling, she found a pound and she and her mother are very proud (of it)
• THey went out on the door and down to the other house and in the other door.
• They did not find the horse and they are sorry, they regret it.
• My brother went to another country yetserday, we are lonely now.
• He had a poem, "I am lonely now, Mary, my blessing and my pride"
• The valley is beautiful an the little river inside.
